After School Service – Garden Room

We offer an after-school service for junior and senior infants in our Garden Room. We also offer full daycare options for mid-term breaks and holidays for after-school children. We are restricted in numbers to a maximum of 12 children and so operate a waiting list for this service.

We think of our after-school service as an extended learning time. Homework assistance is part of the daily agenda, together with fun craft, board games and messy play. The children have regular access to our large outdoor garden.

We believe in a child-led curriculum which means that children can choose what they would like to play with. All materials, toys and games are stored on a low level so that the children can easily reach them. This encourages self-confidence and independence.

The activities for the after-school group are age appropriate and respect each child’s learning rhythm. Some of the values we work on with this group are friendship, responsibility, co-operation, sharing and empathy, all based on respect for each individual.
