Juniors
We aim for the Juniors to be happy, healthy, confidant and independent children. Our emerging curriculum is led by the interests of the children. We spend time listening to these and then incorporate them into the children’s learning. We give them the tools to enhance their learning and development, encouraging independent thinking and embracing new challenges.
Some of the activities we have in the junior room include sand and water play, painting and creative art using open-ended materials. We encourage the children to feel part of a group of friends and develop skills in turn-taking, patience and consideration for others.
“Let me do it myself” is a common phrase heard in the junior room which is encouraged and facilitated so that the children grow in independence and confidence. Children are encouraged in self care by dressing themselves and expressing their feelings. They are supported in making good choices and to try new experiences, learn to problem-solve and be kind to each other.
